wp-includes/vars.php in WordPress before 2.2.3 does not properly extract the current path from the PATH_INFO ($PHP_SELF), which allows remote attackers to bypass intended access restrictions for certain pages.

The weakness was disclosed 09/04/2007 as 6029 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at trac.wordpress.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-2146 since 05/12/2008. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn’t require any form of authentication.
